WHS ACT 2020 - Site Safety - Environmental

KDC BUILDERS PTY LTD recognises the importance of providing all employees, suppliers, delivery staff or delivery couriers, and subcontractors with a safe and healthy work environment, to the best of our ability with co-operation by all subcontractors and site personnel. Our goal is to prevent all occupational injuries and illness.

 

KDC BUILDERS strives to seek to achieve this by following the principles below: 

  • Identifying and reducing the risks of all types of work activities that have the potential to produce personal injury or occupational illness; 

  • Providing instruction, training and supervision to improve individual’s understanding of workplace hazards, including safe work practices and emergency procedures; 

  • Involving individuals in occupational health and safety matters and consulting with them on ways to recognise, evaluate and control workplace hazards; 

  • Ensuring that everyone, including visitors and contractors, complies with appropriate standards and workplace directions to protect their own and others health and safety;  

  • Providing adequate systems and resources to effectively manage rehabilitation and return to work processes;  

  • Measuring and seeking to continuously improve  your performance and an ongoing WHS ACT 2020 program which includes conducting regular inspections of the workplace aimed at preventing accidents and incidents. 

  • Checking all relevant certifications including having a White Card, Apply First Aid Certificate (Current), Working at heights if applicable, etc.

All Suppliers, Subcontractors, Directors, Managers,, Supervisors are responsible and accountable for the safety of their employees and subcontractors and company property under their control. Directors, Managers/, Staff and Supervisors are responsible for ensuring all relevant industry regulations and industry legislation, Codes of Practice (COP), Australian Standards (AS), procedures and safe work method statements and practices are followed at all times. 

 

All employees are expected to: 

  • White Card (Current)

  • Apply First Aid Certification (Current)

  • Follow all company safety requirements, relevant legislation and your relevant specific industry Australian Standards,  WHS ACT 2020 laws and site specific management plans. 

  • Report all injuries, accidents and incidents; 

  • Actively participate in the safety improvement program; 

  • Identify and support measures to eliminate or minimise unsafe conditions;  

  • Assume responsibility for their own safety and for the safety of other work colleagues by always operating in a safe and appropriate manner.

  • Duty of Care approach to all works carried out and we appreciate your cooperation with keeping a clean and safe site. 

Environmental Policy

KDC BUILDERS is committed to providing a quality service in a manner that ensures a safe and healthy workplace for our employees and minimises our potential impact on the environment. We will operate in compliance with all relevant environmental legislation, Codes of Practice and Australian Standards and we will strive to use pollution prevention and environmental best practices in all that we do.

KDC BUILDERS will:

  • Integrate the consideration of environmental concerns and impacts into all of our decision making and activities;

  • Promote environmental awareness among our employees and encourage them to work in an environmentally responsible manner;

  • Train, educate and inform our employees about environmental issues that may affect their work;

  • Reduce waste through re-use, recycling and by purchasing recycled, recyclable or re-furbished products and materials where these alternatives are available, economic and suitable;

  • Promote efficient use of materials and resources throughout our facility including water, electricity, raw materials and other resources, particularly those that are non-renewable;

  • Avoid unnecessary use of hazardous materials and products, seek substitutions when feasible and take all reasonable steps to protect human health and the environment when such materials must be used, stored and disposed of;

  • Purchase and use environmentally responsible products accordingly; 

  • Where required by legislation or where significant health, safety or environmental hazards exist, develop and maintain appropriate emergency and spill response programs;

  • Communicate our environmental commitment to clients, customers and the public and encourage them to support it;

  • Strive to continually improve our environmental performance and minimise the social impact and damage of activities by periodically reviewing our environmental policy in light of our current and planned future activities.
